International Yoga Day Celebration

YOGAInternational Yoga Day is celebrated in India under the leadership of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi saw the reflection throughout the country. Taking the queue St Philomena College organized a mammoth gathering of yoga participants at the College ground.

NCC cadets from Army, Navy and Air force of N. M. C. Sullia, Shri Ramachandra College, Perne, Government Junior College, Puttur, St Philomena High School and St Philomena College, numbering around 650 participated in the yoga.

Lighting the lamp Fr. Alfred J. Pinto, Correspondent of Mai De Deus Institutions inaugurated the programme and said, “Body and mind synchronized with nature. Therefore sound mind makes a sound body and yoga will help to achieve this stage”.

Lt. Col. Ranjith Charco, Chief NCC officer called upon the NCC cadets never to look back after starting the work and also pointedly said that yoga should be performed until breaking time without any interruption.

The participants performed yoga from 7am to 7:35 am.

Fr Rithesh Rodrigues, Asst. Professor, Postgraduate Department of Commerce, Mr. B. K Madhava, Youth and Sports Officer of Puttur Taluk, NCC Officers Mr. Clement Pinto, Mr. Roshan Sequeira, Mr. Naresh Lobo, Mr. Gregori Pais from Kombettu, Mr. Sudhakara from Perne, Mr. Kuladeep from Sullia, Mr. Mahesh Rai, 19 Karnataka Battalion P.I staff, Rev. Fr Maxim D’Souza, Warden of St Philomena High School Boys’ Hostel, Mr. Ramanath Rai, Secretary of Ex Service men Association and the members of Ex Service men Association were present for the programme.

Mr. Rajashekar, teacher of St Philomena High School compered the programme.
