Department of Social Work, St. Philomena college in association with Bannur Grama Panchayat had organised a ‘Women and Child Development’ programme on 30th July, 2014 at Beeriga Anganwadi Centre, Bannur Grama Panchayat.Mr. Shantha Ram, Panchayat Development Officer was the Chief Guest. Mr. Udaya Kumar Parvodi, President, Bannur Grama Panchayat presided over the function.
The Resource Person, Ms. Nancy Lavina Pinto spoke on ‘Women and Child Development’. Addressing the gathering she said, “ The cause of the women should be strengthened and women should stand up for each other’s rights. Only then women’s right can be protected.”
Speaking about the child development she explained how a child should be brought up from the age of 2. Citing a real incident she pointed out the role of the parents particularly a mother in the development of the child.
Mrs. Sheshamma, Vice President, Bannur Grama Panchayat, Thimappa Gowda, Mr. ChandraShekar and Ms. Geetha, Members of Bannur Grama Panchayat and Johnson David Sequeira, Lecturer, Department of Social Work, St. Philomena College were also present.
