Suraksha Consumer Forum of St. Philomena College, Puttur as a part of the Consumer Education certificate course practical training activity had organized a visit to the Mangalore Zilla Panchayat Office, Lokayukta Office, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum,District Information Center, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and had a discussion with the officers.
The Assistant Secretary of Zilla Panchayat Mr. GopalaKrishna Bhat while explaining about the administrative mechanism of ZP said, “Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat has won the National award for their initiative of ‘Nirmal Bharath Abhiyan’.”
Lokayukta Police Inspector,Mr. Dilip Kumar while addressing the members of the Suraksha Consumer Forum said, “Corruption in India is one of the most menacing threats that our country has been facing. At all level of Indian bureaucracy we find corruption. When it comes to fighting this adversary, the general public and members of various associations should join hands and try to unplug it from our country.” He also gave an insight to the students on the various ways of detecting corruption by using Chemical powder.
The Secretary of District Federation of Consumer Organizations Mr. Vishu P. Nayak informed the students about the activities of District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum and District Information Center.
Asst. Director of District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mr. Chinnappa during his interaction with the members of the Suraksha Consumer Forum said, “ In our state the families have been divided into two categories, it being, Below Poverty Line and Above Poverty Line. Government have introduces various provision for the needy. Only the deserving people should the benefits of it.”
