Suraksha Consumer Forum of St. Philomena College, Puttur as a part of the Consumer Education certificate course practical training activity had organized a visit to the Puttur Municipal Council.
Ms. Rekha J. Shetty, the Chief Officer of Puttur Municipal Council informed the students about the administrative system and various schemes which are implemented. She said, “Puttur has been upgraded from the town municipal council into city municipal council. In Geographical area and population it stands after Mangalore City Corporation. Every day there is a waste generation of 14 tones which is of a great concern. Solid waste management has become major challenge of the town. We along with other associations are creating awareness throughout the town.” She concluded by saying that the various departments of Puttur Municipal Council is always available to cater to the needs of the people.
The gathering was welcomed by the convenor of the Suraksha Consumer Forum Prof. Dinakar Rao. The student leader of Suraksha Consumer Forum Mr. Mukunda Krishna proposed the vote of thanks.
