Humanities Association of St Philomena College paid tribute to the great leader, teacher and an inspiration to many, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on August 14, 2015.
The Principal, Prof. Leo Noronha in his presidential address said, “A.P.J Abdul Kalam had raisen from the scratches and had great concern for poor. He worked for the upliftment of the downtrodden. Because of his great contribution he is considered to be the proud son of the India.”
The Resource Person of the programme Mr Jayaprakash Rao said, “ He went from distributing newspapers after school during childhood to contribute to the family income. Dr. Kalam made significant contribution to our country.”
He further said, “He saw a dream for our country known as Vision 2020. He wanted to see our nation standing amongst the developed countries of the world. Dr. Kalam was a man of impeccable character, indomitable spirit, profound knowledge and firm conviction. His death is an irreparable loss to this nation.”
Convenor of the Humanity Association Mr Subair was also present.
The welcome speech was given by Ms. Sowmya of IInd B.A. Ms. Shwetha of lll B.A proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Shobitha compered the programme.
