Student Council Election 2014- 2015

Elected studendsThe election of the student council 2014-2015 of St. Philomena College was conducted on July 2nd, 2014.

In order to give an idea of election the students were asked to assemble at the Silver Jubilee Hall, St. Philomena College. The Vice Principal, Prof. Vishnu Bhat welcomed the gathering.

Mrs. Bharathi Rai, Student Welfare Officer provided guidelines to the students about the election procedures.

Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal while addressing the gathering he said, “The student council election is conducted to make the students aware of the democratic right of electing their own leaders. There is no involvement of any political parties. Therefore there is no ruling or opposition party, each one of you should work together as a team for the betterment of the student community. As the member of Philomena family our only goal is quality education.

He told the contestants to have the spirit of participation in election irrespective of the results. The winners should be humble in their victory and the others should not be demoralised.

Candidates were given an opportunity to speak to further their candidature. Each one of them put forward their ideas and vision for the student council 2014-2015. Following were the candidates, for the post of President – Shrinivas Tamboli of B.C.A and Shamshuddeen of B.Com.

                                         Secretary – Jostin Vinroy of B.Sc and Pavan John Mascarehnas of B.Com

                                         Joint Secretary – Radhika Suresh of B.B.M and Wilma Maria Monteiro of B.C.A

The formal function ended with the vote of thanks by Student Welfare Officer, Prof. Ganesh Bhat.

The students exercised their franchise in their respective class rooms under supervision of the lectures and the election officers. After the counting of votes Shrinivas Tamboli was elected as the President , Jostin Vinroy was elected as the Secretary and Radhika Suresh was elected as the Joint Secretary.

Elected representatives delivered their thanks giving speech to the students.
