“We need to have a scientific temperament and be a cause for the development of our society.” said Rev. Fr. Gerald D’Souza, the correspondent of St.Philomena college, speaking after inaugurating the Science model exhibition conducted by the Science forum on Monday, 26th August at St.Philomena college, Puttur.
The campus director, Rev.Dr.Antony Prakash Monteiro who was the chief guest, in his address said, “We must not confine our studies merely to the syllabus, instead make ourselves able to solve practical problems using our common scientific knowledge.” P.U College Principal ,Rev Fr.Vijay Lobo advised the students to make the best use of the programme and widen their scientific imagination. Prof. Leo Noronha, the Principal, in his address said, “Building models and exhibiting them provides an opportunity to learn through involvement and gives the students a better practical experience.” He also appreciated the science forum of the college for arranging the exhibition.
Prof.Chandrashekar, the Physics lecturer and the convener of Science Forum welcomed the gathering and gave introductory remarks. Mr.Adarsh, Jagadeesh, Miss.Varsha Moleyar and Vibha welcomed the guests with flowers. Miss. Swathi R proposed the vote of thanks and Miss. Moulya C. J compered the programme.
More than 1500 students from different schools and P. U colleges of Puttur taluk visited and viewed the models related to physical and natural sciences prepared by the science departments of the college.
