A Guest Lecture on ‘Sanitation and Environment Protection’

As a part of our responsibility towards protecting our mother earth from environmental degradation and also to understand the sustainable sanitation practices in an attempt to improve our quality of life the Post Graduate Department of Social Work had organised a Guest Lecture on the Topic ‘Sanitation and Environment Protection’ on 09-10-2012 at Silver Jubilee Hall for the social work students .

Prof. Leo Norohna, the Principal, inaugurated the session by lighting the lamp. In his speech he highlighted the view that unless and until our public is convinced themselves the urgency & need of sanitation and environment protection, any law or such initiatives would not have any meaning. At least now people recognize the need of coming forward to save our mother earth for the future generation, he added.

Mrs. Manjula, Consultant of District Resource Unit, Total Sanitation Campaign had participated as Resource Person and elaborately spoke on the concept and issues of Sanitation Programme. She also enlightened students on the various aspects of the TSC project with slides, which is being implemented across South Canara District.

As students are actively involved in the implementation process of this community led project, they were informed in detail how and what need to be done in order to realise this project with the involvement of community in which they are placed.

Mr. Prasanna Kumar, Coordinator of the P.G. Department of Social Work delivered preliminary remarks.

Mr. Abdul Sameeh welcomed all and Mr. Rakesh proposed vote of thanks. Mr. Jagannath rendered the prayer. Ms. Chaithra compeered the programme.
