In view of introducing Social Work concepts, core skills, contemporary practice methods to MSW students the Post Graduate Department of Social Work of St Philomena College Puttur had organized 2 days Orientation Visit for I year MSW Students. Students have visited various voluntary organizations and Care centers in Mangalore on 6th and 7th August, 2015.
Orientation visit to various social welfare institutions provide the budding professionals in social work, an opportunity to observe, discover and deepen their awareness by understanding the nature, structure and functions of various voluntary organizations. It provides them an outline, understanding and inspiration so as to embark on their field work practicum in due course as well as enables them to imbibe professional expertise.
Students had visited Ave Maria Palliative Care Centre, Vamanjoor, Mangalore; Hind Kusta Nivarana Sangh, Mangalore; St Antony’s Ashram, Jeppu; Kripa Foundation – de-addiction centre during their visit schedule. Teaching staff of the department guided the students and accompanied them in materializing the vision.
