‘Developing Social Responsibility is the Purpose of Education’

Welcome & Orientation of PG students (1)“Society recognises youngsters with social responsibility at the same time condemn the irresponsible behaviour. Therefore the purpose of education is to create responsible youths who will contribute to the growth of the country,” said the Correspondent, Very Rev. Fr Alfred J. Pinto. He was addressing the students during the orientation programme organised by the St. Philomena College, Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research.

 Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Montheiro, Chairman of St. Philomena College Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research while addressing the gathering said, “St.Philomena College has started Post Gradute Courses in M.S.W, M.Com, M.Sc in Physics and Maths and students has registered very good results in University exams. This year the college has started M.A in Economics and M.Sc in Computer Science. The aim of the college is to impart quality education to the students.

Addressing the students, Prof. Leo Norohna, Principal of the college said, “Along with showing interest in their own subjects the students should also be aware of what is happening in other areas.”

Ms.Chaitra and her team sang the prayer song. Prof. Krishna welcomed the gathering. Ms. Nischel Pramila Serrao was the Master of the Ceremony.
