Guest Lecture: ‘Non Linear Optics And Its Applications’

Non-Linear-Optics-And-Its-ApplicationsDr John Kiran an eminent scientist from Indian Institute of Science visited PG Department of Physics on 19th January 2015 to deliver Guest lecture on the topic ‘NON LINEAR OPTICS AND ITS APPLICATIONS’. Dr John Kiran is presently working as Application scientist in Reinshaw, UK based company. It is proud to note that the Dr John Kiran is the old student of St Philomena College

The chairperson of PG studies Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro introduced the Guest. Dr A P Radhakrishna HOD of Physics recollected the days when Dr John Kiran was the Student of this college. He congratulated him for his achievements in the research field. Dr John Kiran shared his research experience in the various research fields of Physics he had undergone. He highlighted the importance of all other subjects along with the Physics in daily life by quoting simple examples. In the Afternoon session he gave the introduction to linear and nonlinear optics and its applications. He specially highlighted the priority of research in our nation.

He motivated students by saying his own experience and encouraged them to think beyond the textbooks, to create wonders in their subjects and to reach higher in life. All first year and second year Msc students and all faculty members of the department took active participation in this programme.
