The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics of St Philomena College Puttur organized University level inter collegiate Mathematics Fest ‘Asymptotia-2k19’ on 6th March 2019 in PG Seminar Hall.
Prof S S Bosco, Retired Professor of St Aloysius College and Chairman of Boscoss PU College Mangalore inaugurated the Fest. In his inaugural address, he said that the dilution of the curriculum defuses the ability and interest of the students towards depth of the subject. Teaching institutions should motivate the students to enhance their knowledge through these type of fests and other programs.
The Campus Director and Chairman of Centre for PG Studies of the College Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the chief guest and said that along with the classroom teaching and notes, students should develop communication and management skills, which will help them to build their career in the society .
The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha presided over the function.
The topper of 2016-18 Batch student Ms. Divyashree, Toppers of 1st and 3rd semesters Ms. Shruthi U And Ms. Chaithra B J were recognized in the program.
Ms. Chaithra B J and team prayed for the success of the program. Staff Coordinator Mrs. Vaishnavi C welcomed the gathering. The Coordinator of the department Prof. Ganesh Bhat gave the introductory remark. Student coordinator Ms. Ramyashree proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Akshatha compeered the program. Student Coordinator Mr. Manoj Kumar K, Faculties of the department Ms. Anusha L, Mr. Mohanraj S, Mr. Vrikshavardhana Hebbar N, Mr. Karthik K, were present on the occasion.
The fest consisted of 5 events namely Colloquium(Seminar), Matricks(Multi tasking), Mathink(Quiz), CONNEXION(AV Contest), ANAVARAN(Poster making). 8 teams from different colleges had participated in these events.
