Inter-collegiate Economics Fest

Economics FestThe post graduate department of Economics, St. Philomena College in association with Mangalore University Economics Association had organized an inter-collegiate Economics Fest on 17th January, 2015 at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall, St. Philomena College.

The inaugurator of the function Dr. Vigneshwara Murmudi, President of Mangalore University Economics Association, speaking on the occasion said, “Economics is one of the important social sciences which has received international recognition. Economic activities are part and parcel of a human being. As a producer, consumer and distributor has a continuous role in the Economic activities.”

The President of the function, Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal of the College said, “Insight on the economic affairs solves lot of common problems of a common man. It is very important in this fast changing society.”

Prof. Vishnu Bhat, Vice Principal of the College, Mr. Vasudev N the secretary, Mangalore University Economics Association, and Prof. Sandhya Rai, Convener of Economics Fest were present. Ms. Sowmya and group sang the prayer song. Prof. Dinakara Rao, Coordinator of PG Studies in Economics of St Philomena College welcomed the gathering. Ms. Poojitha proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Pradeep K.S., Lecturer, Faculty of Economics was the master of the ceremony.

Valedictory Function:

The President of the function, Prof. Vishnu Bhat, Vice Principal of the College in valedictory note said, “Economics is a matured social science and it is imperative for the administrator to have deep knowledge in the subject.”

The Chief Guest of the function, Mr. Vishwa Kumar N, AGM of Bharath Auto cars Pvt. Ltd. distributed the prizes to the winners. The winners of elocution competition were as follows, Ms. Shama I N M, St Aloysius College Mangalore won the first prize, Ms. Pavitra, SDM College, Ujjire won the second prize and Ms. Suja, Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar won the third prize. The winners of essay writing competition were as follows, Ms. Akshatha, Dhavala College, Moodabidri won the first prize,   Ms. Vanajakhi, SDM College, Ujjire won the second prize and Ms. Pavitra G., St Philomena College Puttur won the third prize. The winners of Quiz competition were as follows, Mr. Sunil and Mr. Praveen, Nehru Memorial College, Sullia won the first prize, Mr. Christu Das and Mr. Ankith Kumar, St Aloysius College Mangalore won the second prize and Mr. Jayaheel and Ms. Priyanka, Bandarkar College, Kundapur won the third prize. Prof Pradeep K. S., Faculty, Dept. of Economics read out the list of prize winners.

The Service Manager of Bharath Auto cars Pvt. Ltd, Puttur Mr. Anand, the secretary of Mangalore University Economics Association, Mr. Vasudev N and Prof. Dinakar Rao, Coordinator of PG Studies in Economics were also present.

Ms. Sandhya Rai, Convener of Economics Fest proposed the vote of thanks, Mr Bharath, President of the Planning Forum was the master of the ceremony.

Kodibail Agro Agency demonstrated the modern farming equipments. Bharath Auto Cars Pvt. Ltd Puttur exhibited their new model cars and also about their driving school.
