Fresher’s Day Celebration at P.G Centre

The 2nd of September, 2013 was marked as a memorable day in the life of every fresher of P.G. Centre at St. Philomena College, Puttur. The Fresher’s day was filled with excitement, joy, enthusiasm, music, laughter and happiness. “A hundred new faces, but a million dreams” is what this occasion can be best described as. Welcoming these hundred – odd bright faces to an unchartered ocean of knowledge is the main purpose of celebration of Fresher’s Day.

The Fresher’s Day at SPC sees an amalgamation of students from various walks of life, from various region and religion with common goal. It’s a subtle effort to make their celebration big, nurture their dreams and deliver words of wisdom. The event provides a platform for the freshmen to interact with the senior students of the course/college and also to unveil their talents to the larger audience.

The president for the day was Very. Rev. Fr. Gerald D’Souza, Correspondent of St. Philomena College. He wished the students every success and advised them to be study centric all  the time so as to achieve mastery over their respective subjects.

Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal of the college in his address opined that the students need to be imaginative, constructive and creative learners since they pursue master’s degree. Slow and steady wins the race is the moral line in the story of ‘the tortoise and the rabbit’ which has been impractical today in highly competitive contemporary world and currently one requires to be sufficient fast and steady to succeed in life, he added.

Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro, Campus Director and Chair Person, P.G. Studies in his address opined that hardened efforts of the students towards their education never go in vein but makes them well-built in knowledge as well as keeps them extremely well-informed and also prepares them for their future ahead of them.
