P G Department of Computer Science of St Philomena College Puttur has arranged ‘Two week Free Computer Training Programme’ for the benefit of rural people of Puttur. The inaugural function of this programme was held on june 10, 2015 at conference hall of P G Centre. Inaugurator Mr. Seetharama Shetty, Director, SKDRDP, Coorg District said, ‘Computer is playing vital role in modern life. Computer education has great importance because use of computer has reached almost all spheres of life. The modern life of today includes information and contacts with people all over the world. Computer has helped considerably to achieve this’.
The President of this programme Rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Chairperson for P G Studies of the College said, ‘Computer technology has had a deep impact on the education sector. Computers have changed the way we work, be it any profession. Therefore, it is important for everyone to have at least the basic knowledge of using computers’. Mr. Dharnappa Moolya, Project Officer, SKDRDP, Puttur Taluk was the guest of honour. The Coordinator of the Department Prof. Govinda Prakash was present on this occasion. The students of the Department Ms. Raksha and Ms. Ramya with their prayer song invoked God to shower his choicest blessings. Ms. Vanitha welcomed the gathering. Ms. Raksha proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Akshatha compered the programme. The faculty members of the Department Prof. Praveen N. and Prof Sooryanarayana Bhat B. have extended their support in organizing the programme.
