Workshop on ‘Family Counseling and Marital therapy’

Family Counseling and Marital therapy‘Traditional family system has been disintegrating widely and all the more it is emerging with new complexities. Ever-increasing anomalies in family relationships as well as marital life of the people have actually been deteriorating the quality of human life. There is a pressing need to assist our youth so as to make them sufficiently strong to bear with whatsoever circumstances of their life. It is desirable that family members understand the life adequately well so as to bring about coordination and integration in the family. Incidentally the very workshop is a genuine effort in this regard’ opined Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro, Chairman of P.G. Studies, St. Philomena College, Puttur.

He was delivering the presidential address at the inaugural session of 3 days workshop on ‘Family Counseling and Marital therapy’ organized by Post Graduate Department of Social work. ‘Effective communication, harmonious relationship and good adjustment between the members are the vital elements for the success and wellbeing of the family’ he added. Finally he conveyed his best wishes for the success of planned workshop.

Mr. Prasanna Kumar, Coordinator of MSW progrmme welcomed all and expressed his views on the workshop.

Rev. Fr Francis, Asst. Professor, P. G. Dept of social work briefed the students about various concepts and sessions related to workshop.

The event was arranged for MSW students of the department starting from 23-10-2014 for 3 days.

Rev. Fr Francis, Mr. Prasanna Kumar, Mrs. Anila Shetty served as resource persons.

Ms. Geethapriya and Ms. Shruthi prayed. Ms. Arshitha Rani proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Arpitha emceed the proceedings.
