Elocution Competition on Gender Discrimination

DSC_3753Department of Political Science in association with department of English and Women Empowerment Cell of St. Philomena College Puttur with a view of creating awareness among the students and to provide a platform to exhibit their communication skill organized an Elocution competition on ‘Gender Discrimination’ on 9th September, 2014 at Prerahna Hall.

The inaugurator of the programme, Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal, speaking on the occasion said, “Gender discrimination is unlawful, in every field of life both men and women should be treated equally with dignity by providing equal education and opportunities.” He further said, “Communication is an important facet of life. The success of an individual depends on his ability to communicate.”

The gathering was welcomed by Prof. Venkateshwari, Head of the department of Political Science. Mrs. Suma, Department of English proposed the vote of thanks.

The students delivered inspiring speeches and performed exceptionally well. Ms. Nethravathi, ll B.sc Fiona Mascarenhas, l B.Sc and Nawaz, l B.A won the lst, llnd and lllrd prize respectively.
