“Digital Communication and PCB Fabrication”-One day National workshop

The Post Graduate Department of Physics, St. Philomena College, Puttur, has organized a National Level Workshop on Digital Communication and PCB Fabrication, on 1st April 2014.

Today, one can find printed circuit boards in everything around the house, from a computer mouse to microwave. The main focus of this workshop was to study the different steps in the fabrication of Printed circuit board and the technological development in the field of Digital communication.

The Workshop was inaugurated by Very Rev. Fr. Gerald D’Souza, correspondent, St.Philomena College, Puttur by lightening the lamp. Prof. Leo Noronha, the Principal of our college was Chief Guest on the occasion. Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monterio, Campus director and Chairperson P.G. Studies was present as guest of honor, Dr. A.P. Radhakrishna, H.O.D of physics and Dr.E.Deepak D’Silva, Coordinator of MSc Physics were also present on the dais.

The President of the function Very.Rev.Fr Gerald D’Souza, correspondent, St.Philomena College, wished the gathering to take good out of the workshop and get benefited; this event may give an idea for scientific inventions which will be helpful to the mankind.

“The printed circuit board is a heart of any electronic device. Science students definitely need to study the fabrication of PCB” opined the chief guest on the occasion.

Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro congratulated the Department of physics for organizing the workshop and wished all the students to take active part in the workshop.

After the inauguration, various sessions were held.

During I Session of the workshop, Dr. Abdul Kareem, Professor, E & C, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangalore, addressed the participants on the topic “Green Technologies for Wireless Communications”.

Dr. Sooryanarayana, H.O.D Physics, Srinivas institute of technology, Mangalore spoke on the topic “IC fabrication and technology” during the session II and gave details about how the Electronic Components are fabricated in the small integrated circuits.

Session III was handled by Shankar Narayan Bhat M, Professor, Electronics & communication, Manipal University, Manipal on the topic “Low power Data Communication in VLSI”.

The topic “Broadband Network Communication” was engaged by the speaker Mr.Krishnakumar P.V., sub Divisional Engineer National Internet Backbone, BSNL Mysore and spoke about various aspects of broadband network during the IV session.

During V Session there was the demonstration of PCB Fabrication by J. Ravikumar and group, Technilab Instrument, Bangalore. They demonstrated each and every steps of the PCB Fabrication and clarified the doubts of the participants.

Dr.E Deepak D’silva, Coordinator of MSc physics welcomed the gathering. Ms.Soumya Shenoy Lecturer in Physics delivered the vote of thanks. Ms. Christina, II MSc student was the master of ceremony.
