Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College Puttur organized an awareness programme on the topic ‘Prevention of Communicable Diseases’ on July 25, 2015 at Spandana Seminar Hall of the College.
The Medical Officer of Primary Health Centre Ishwaramangala Dr. Tanuja Ponnappa was the resource person. Speaking on the topic, she said, ‘Dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of an Aedes mosquito infected with a dengue virus. The mosquito becomes infected when it bites a person with dengue virus in their blood. It can’t be spread directly from one person to another person. There is no medicine to treat dengue infection. In order to control mosquito bite we have to maintain our environment clean.’
The Vice-Principal of the college Prof. Vishnu Bhat presided over the function. Ms. Bharathi B N, Ms. Ashwitha Joseph and Ms. Anusha P J sang the prayer song. The Director of Suraksha Consumer Forum Prof. Dinakara Rao welcomed the gathering. Ms. Mahima Maria Netto proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Daina Joy compered the programme.
