Awareness Programme on PAN Card

DSC_1344Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College Puttur has organized an awareness programme on PAN Card on February 13, 2015 in Prerana seminar hall of the college. The resource person was Mr. Muralidhar K., Financial Consultant of Wealth Vision, Puttur. In his presentation he said, ‘PAN stands for Permanent Account Number. It is a ten-digit alphanumeric number, issued by the Income Tax Department under the supervision of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). It is mandatory to quote PAN on return of income, all correspondence with any income tax authority. It is also compulsory to quote PAN in all documents pertaining to financial transactions notified from time-to-time by the Central Board of Direct Taxes. It is also mandatory to mention PAN for obtaining a telephone or cellular connection. Likewise, PAN has to be mentioned for making a time deposit exceeding Rs.50,000/- with a Bank or Post Office or depositing cash of Rs.50,000/- or more in a Bank. Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal, presided over the function. Mr. Prajwal of Wealth Vision was present and extended the co-operation in organizing this programme. Mr. Dinakara Rao, Director of Suraksha Consumer Forum welcomed the gathering. Ms. Reshma Jane D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Jereena K. J. compeered the programme. More than 60 students took part in this programme and also applied for the PAN Card.
