Arivu – 2012

The P.G Department of Social Work has always been supportive towards different Organizations of the society when it comes to dealing with social concerns. Same gesture of collaboration was shown in realizing “ARIVU-2012” – an ‘Inclusive Education Community Awareness Campaign’ through street play performance around Puttur Taluk on differently abled children in collaboration with the Education Department, Puttur & Education Resource Centre, Puttur  on the 8th & 9th of November 2012.

The inauguration of the ‘Inclusive Education Community Awareness Campaign’ took place at Mai De Deus School Ground on 8th November in the presence of various officials, dignitaries, teachers & students of surrounding schools. Mrs. Shashiprabha, President, Taluk Panchayat, Puttur inaugurated the Campaign. The event was coloured by the presence of Mr.Sheshashayana BEO of Puttu; Prof.Leo Noronha, Principal of St.Philomena College; Mr. Mamachan, President, Primary School Teachers’ Association; Ms G.B.Bhagyavathi, Physical Education Supervisor; Mr.Prasanna Kumar, Coordinator, P.G. Department of Social Work, St.Philomena College; Mr.Mounesh, the street play trainer, to name a few.

The team of ‘ARIVU-2012’ travelled around Puttur Taluk for two days exhibiting 9 shows at 9 different spots. The team presented themselves at Mai De Deus Church ground, Aralapadavu, Kumbra Junction, Savanooru Junction, Uppinangady School & Bus stand, Nelyadi Junction, Kadaba Junction & at Bolwar. The team received a rousing welcome by the members of local schools & Panchayaths as well as from the general public. Spectators were gathered in large numbers & ARIVU-2012 was a great success with the support & cooperation of various stakeholders and people.

The ‘Arivu -2012’ team comprised of 15 Ist year MSW students were trained by well known theatre artist and journalist Mr. Mounesh Vishwakarma and the chosen script was of Mr. Ramesh Ulaya. Mr. Krishnayya Laila assisted the team with music.
