St.Philomena College, Puttur celebrated its College Day on 26-02-2014. Dr. Lokesh, Prof in Dept. of History, Mangalore University participated as the Chief Guest. In his speech he said it is important for every individual to put under deliberation his ability and so that it is possible for him to understand the limitations of his capacity in doing anything of his choice. He also called for the students to give maximum importance for their studies so that the students should make the optimum utilization of library and hard work to the core is required. India is a country, where there is unity in diversity and importance is given to Truth, Non-violence, and secularism. Youth power of India enjoys foremost position in the universe and it should be properly utilized.
Rev.Dr.Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the guest of honour. Very Rev.Fr.Gerald D’Souza, Correspondent presided over the function. President of Alumni Association Sri Gangadhar and Vice President of Parent Teachers Association Smt. Wilma Gonsalves were gracefully present on the dais. Those who obtained doctoral degree, rank holders and best outgoing student were felicitated on this graceful occasion. Ms. Varsha Moleyar and group rendered prayer. Vice Principal Prof. S. Vishnu Bhat welcomed. Prof. Leo Noronha presented College Annual Report, Prof.Udaya K. proposed vote of thanks, Prof. Ganesh Bhat K. compeered the programme.
In the afternoon Cultural Programme was held and talented students performed various cultural items.
