An Edifying Session on Financial Assistance

Students CouncilThe Student Council of St. Philomena College in association with Vijaya Bank, Darbe had organized an informative session for the students to provide financial assistance. This programme was organized on 24th July, 2014 at Silver Jubilee Hall, St. Philomena College Puttur

The Principal of the College, Prof. Leo Norohna while addressing the gathering said, “Education is important for the growth of an individual. Most of the youth cannot aspire for higher education because of financial constraints. Therefore the bank has come up with various schemes to help those students to pursue their education.

The Resource Person Mr. Rajesh C., Asst Manager of Vijaya Bank informed the students about the Rajiv Gandhi Loan Scholarship Scheme offered by the State government through Vijaya Bank for the students from the economically weaker sections to pursue their higher education.

Speaking about the eligibility of the scheme, he said, “This scheme is valid for the colleges run by State Government and the Government aided colleges. The student should have secured 55% and above marks in PUC. He/ she should belong to economically weaker section identified by the Tahsildar.” He told the students to take the benefit of the scheme.

Student Welfare Officers Mrs. Bharathi Rai and Prof. Ganesh Bhat were present. As many as 550 students participated in the programme.

The programme was compered by Mr. Prashanth Rai, Lecturer, Department of Commerce and Business Management.
